Frequently Asked Questions
Why is distracted driving considered such a serious risk on the road?
Even a few seconds with eyes or attention off the road can mean missing a stopped vehicle, a curve, or another hazard in time to react, which is why distraction is tied to so many crashes.
How much do weather and road conditions affect crash risk?
Wet, icy, or poorly lit roads reduce traction and visibility, making it harder to stop or steer in time, so drivers often need to slow down well below the posted speed in those conditions.
What should someone do right after a car accident?
Check for injuries, call 911, move to a safe spot if possible, and exchange information with other drivers. Even if injuries seem minor, it's wise to be checked by a medical provider, since some injuries don't show symptoms right away.
What to Do After a Car Accident in Rumney, NH
If you're involved in a crash in Rumney, you should prioritize getting checked out by medical personnel at the scene, even if injuries aren't immediately obvious. Adrenaline can mask pain, and conditions like concussions or internal injuries sometimes take hours to surface. Remember to keep a copy of the police report and any medical records from the visit, and follow up with your own doctor in the days afterward. If a vehicle needs to be towed or stored, confirm with the towing company where it will be and how to retrieve personal belongings. Reporting the crash to your insurance provider promptly is also a practical step, even while details are still being sorted out.
