Salina, KS (January 6, 2026) – A serious three-vehicle crash left several individuals injured on Sunday morning along the 2000 block of Centennial Rd in Salina. Police were called to the scene just before 11 a.m., where a chain-reaction collision involving a Honda Accord, Buick Envision, and Ford Edge unfolded across both lanes of traffic.

According to the Salina Police Department, the crash began when a northbound 2001 Honda Accord attempted to pass a 2023 Buick Envision. During the maneuver, the Honda clipped the Buick, sending it off the roadway. The Buick traveled through a fence and overturned. The Honda also veered off the road, then overcorrected and was struck by a southbound 2007 Ford Edge.

The driver of the Honda, a 20-year-old man, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. He, along with the 26-year-old Buick driver and two juvenile passengers, was transported to a Salina hospital with injuries. The Ford’s 26-year-old driver was initially taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to Wichita for further treatment.

Centennial Rd was shut down temporarily as crews responded to the scene, cleared debris, and launched an investigation into the crash. Officials are continuing to examine the events leading up to the collision.

Our thoughts are with all those injured in this crash, and we hope for their full and smooth recovery.

Multi-Vehicle Collisions in Kansas

Crashes involving more than two vehicles, especially those occurring on undivided roads like Centennial Rd, are often the result of sudden maneuvers or failed passing attempts. In this case, the attempt to overtake another vehicle on a two-lane road resulted in a chain reaction that left five people injured and multiple vehicles heavily damaged.

Rural and suburban roads in Kansas often lack the additional lanes or medians that help prevent such incidents. When drivers misjudge speed, timing, or distance while passing, they can unintentionally trigger collisions with oncoming traffic or other nearby vehicles. In many cases, the outcomes include ejections, rollovers, and high-impact trauma.

Those injured in multi-vehicle crashes often face complex recovery paths. In addition to physical treatment, victims may be left dealing with property damage, transportation challenges, and the legal or insurance implications of shared fault. For the families of those hurt, early guidance and access to accurate information are essential in supporting both healing and resolution.

When the cause of a crash remains under investigation, as in this case, it’s especially important for victims to document their injuries, seek consistent medical care, and understand their rights as the process unfolds.
