How Right-of-Way Violations Lead to Intersection Crashes
Intersections are among the most common locations for traffic crashes, especially when drivers misjudge right-of-way rules. Left turns across opposing traffic often require drivers to yield until the roadway is clear. Even a brief delay in reaction time can have serious consequences.
Busy roads with multiple lanes, like major boulevards, increase the risk of confusion. Drivers must watch for oncoming vehicles, changing traffic signals, and pedestrians at the same time. When visibility is limited or traffic is heavy, the chance of a collision rises.
To reduce risk, drivers should slow down before entering intersections and double-check for approaching vehicles. Taking a few extra seconds to confirm the way is clear can help prevent injuries and vehicle damage.
