How Pedestrian Crashes Can Occur at Crosswalks
Pedestrian crashes can still happen at crosswalks, even when people are using designated crossing areas. Drivers turning at intersections may not always see someone entering or already in the crosswalk.
Timing and visibility can affect how quickly a driver reacts. A pedestrian losing balance or falling can further reduce the time available to avoid a collision.
Traffic flow, intersection design, and driver attention all influence these situations. Even controlled crossing areas can present risks under certain conditions.
