San Antonio, TX (January 18, 2026) – A woman suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle late Friday night on San Antonio’s northwest side, prompting an extensive police investigation and temporary road closures.
The incident occurred around 9:19 p.m. on January 16 in the 11800 block of Bandera Rd, just outside Loop 1604. According to the San Antonio Police Department, the woman had exited a vehicle in a nearby parking lot and attempted to cross Bandera Rd on foot. Authorities believe she may have been involved in an argument at the time, which led her to run across the busy roadway.
As she crossed, a white sedan traveling along Bandera Rd struck her. Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported the woman to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in critical condition late Friday night.
The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. Police have not indicated whether any charges are being considered, and the investigation remains ongoing.
In the aftermath of the crash, traffic heading toward Helotes was diverted through the Bandera Trails shopping center, and no vehicles were allowed to travel under Loop 1604 in that direction. Police advised that closures would remain in place for several hours as investigators reconstructed the scene.
Our thoughts are with the injured woman and her loved ones as she fights to recover from this serious accident.
