San Diego, CA (January 27, 2026) – A 58-year-old woman was hospitalized Monday afternoon following a rollover crash near Fifth Ave in San Diego. The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. after the driver’s vehicle reportedly collided with another car while traveling at approximately 20 to 25 mph on a surface street.
According to emergency response details, the impact caused the woman’s vehicle to overturn. She was helped from the vehicle by a nearby bystander and was upright and alert when EMS crews arrived. Medical personnel noted that she was oriented but had limited recollection of the sequence of events, recalling only that she had been involved in a collision.
Her vehicle sustained moderate front-end damage, and airbags deployed on the driver, passenger, and steering wheel sides. A damaged windshield was also noted. While initial trauma indicators were limited, paramedics observed redness on her left shoulder, consistent with a seatbelt mark, along with some patterned chest discomfort.
Due to the rollover nature of the crash and the patient’s use of prescribed blood thinners, the situation was upgraded to a major trauma response. The woman was transported to Mercy Hospital for further evaluation under trauma protocols. She remained in stable condition during transport.
Authorities are continuing to assess the factors leading to the crash, including road conditions and potential driver error. No other injuries were reported at the scene, and no citations have yet been announced.
We send our sincere wishes to the injured driver and hope for her full recovery following this frightening incident.
