San Jose, CA (January 29, 2026) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle late Tuesday morning near the intersection of Story Rd and King Rd, according to the San Jose Police Department.
The fatal incident occurred at approximately 11:18 a.m. on January 27. Responding officers arrived to find the pedestrian had suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The individual was pronounced dead shortly after emergency personnel arrived.
The SJPD Traffic Investigations Unit responded and shut down nearby roads to conduct a full on-site investigation. The identity of the deceased has not yet been publicly released, pending family notification.
Officials have not confirmed whether the driver remained at the scene or if any contributing factors—such as speed, distraction, or visibility—played a role in the collision.
This tragedy comes just days after another fatal pedestrian crash in West San Jose near South Bascom Ave and Borello Ave, adding to growing concerns over pedestrian safety in the area.
