San Jose, CA (September 3, 2026) – A man died Monday night, August 31, after being struck by a car while crossing Vistapark Drive in San Jose, according to authorities. The collision happened near the intersection with Royale Park Drive.
Officers reportedly responded around 8:08 p.m. to reports of a pedestrian crash in the area, according to the San Jose Police Department. A preliminary investigation indicated a woman driving a tan sedan was headed southbound on Vistapark Drive near Royale Park Drive when her vehicle struck a man crossing eastbound outside of a marked crosswalk, police said.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries, authorities reported. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to police.
Officials said the death marks San Jose’s 31st traffic fatality of 2026 and the city’s 16th pedestrian death this year.
