West Hartford, CT (June 4, 2026) – Three people were taken for medical care on Thursday morning, June 4, after a multi-vehicle accident in West Hartford. The accident was reported around 8:15 a.m. at North Main Street and Old Meadow Road.

The initial report said the crash involved two dump trucks, a short school bus, and a sedan. No injuries were first reported, but three ambulances were later requested one at a time on non-emergency response.

Three patients were transported from the site. One was taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, one to UConn, and one to another facility.

Both dump trucks had front-end damage, and fluid was reported on the roadway. North Main Street was closed from Tumblebrook Lane to Old Meadow Road while emergency units worked in the area. The collision remains under review as investigators continue confirming the details.

We hope all three people taken for care recover safely.

What Details Are Usually Reviewed After School Bus and Truck Accidents?

Accidents involving school buses and large trucks frequently require a close review of vehicle size, turning space, stopping distance, and lane position. Dump trucks are heavy vehicles, and their weight can affect how quickly they stop or respond in traffic.

When a school bus is involved, investigators may also check whether passengers were aboard and where everyone was seated. Even when injuries are not first reported, later medical evaluations may still be needed if people feel pain or other symptoms after the collision.

Fluid on the roadway can create added hazards and may require cleanup before lanes reopen. Photos, vehicle damage, road markings, and witness accounts can help explain how the vehicles came together and why traffic was blocked.
