Manor, TX (August 31, 2026) – Two people were killed, and a child was seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision involving an 18-wheeler and a sedan in Manor. The accident happened around 2:58 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, at East US 290 Highway and Old Kimbro Road.

The driver and front-seat passenger of the sedan were pronounced dead at the scene. A child who was also inside the sedan was flown to a local hospital by STAR Flight with serious injuries. The 18-wheeler driver was reportedly not injured and remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation.

A preliminary review indicated the truck was traveling westbound on US 290 when it ran a red light and struck the passenger side of a blue sedan. The sedan was turning north onto Old Kimbro Road from East US 290 Highway when the collision occurred. The westbound lanes of US 290 were closed between FM 1100 Road and Old Kimbro Road, while Old Kimbro Road was also blocked at US 290.

The incident remains under review as officials continue examining the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. Our condolences go out to the families of those killed, and our thoughts are with the injured child.

How Can Red-Light Violations Lead to Serious Crashes?

Running a red light can create a dangerous situation because vehicles entering an intersection may have little time to avoid approaching traffic. A vehicle traveling at highway speed can cover a significant distance before a driver can react and stop.

The point of impact can affect the severity of injuries. Side impacts can expose occupants to significant forces because there is less space between the side of a vehicle and the passenger compartment. Children may face additional risks because of their smaller size and the way they are positioned inside a vehicle.

Large commercial trucks can also create substantial forces during a collision because of their size and weight. When a truck strikes a smaller passenger vehicle, the difference in vehicle mass can contribute to extensive damage and serious injuries.
