Safety Tips for Drivers at City Intersections
Intersections can become dangerous when drivers fail to stop, turn without checking for traffic, or enter an intersection against a signal. Make sure to slow down as you approach crossings and watch for vehicles coming from multiple directions. Keeping a safe following distance also gives you more time to react if traffic suddenly stops.
At night, reduced visibility can make it harder to spot vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists. Using headlights properly and staying alert can help drivers recognize hazards sooner. Avoiding distractions, obeying traffic signals, and allowing extra space around other vehicles can also reduce the chance of a serious collision.
