How Red-Light Intersection Crashes Commonly Occur
Intersection crashes often happen when drivers misjudge signal timing or attempt to cross through changing lights. Busy junctions like Southwest Military Drive and New Laredo Highway can carry steady traffic flow, increasing the risk of conflict between turning and through vehicles.
When a driver enters an intersection against a red light, cross-traffic may have little time to react, especially during early morning hours when visibility is reduced. These types of crashes are frequently reviewed using traffic signal data, witness statements, and roadway camera footage. Even when injuries are not immediately classified as severe, occupants are often evaluated at hospitals due to the force involved in multi-vehicle impacts.
