Shawnee County, KS (May 16, 2026) – Three people were injured in a rollover crash northwest of Topeka on Friday morning.
Emergency units responded around 9:45 a.m. on Friday to the intersection of Northwest Humphrey Road and Northwest 46th Street after reports of a single-vehicle crash. Crews arrived and found a 2013 Cadillac SUV that had left the roadway and rolled several times after entering a ditch.
Officials said the SUV was traveling east on Northwest 46th Street when the driver lost control near the intersection. A 24-year-old man driving the vehicle and a 19-year-old woman inside suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
A third passenger, identified as a 23-year-old, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Traffic in the area was restricted while crews worked at the scene. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.

Rollover Crashes Often Happen After Vehicles Leave the Roadway
Rollover crashes frequently occur when a vehicle leaves the roadway and enters uneven terrain such as a ditch or shoulder. Once a vehicle’s tires catch soft ground or a slope, the sudden shift in balance can cause it to overturn multiple times.
