Philadelphia, PA (July 20, 2026) – Seven Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania workers were hurt on Friday morning, July 17, after a shuttle bus overturned following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Columbus Blvd and Reed St.
The wreck happened at about 6:40 a.m. Investigators said a 33-year-old man driving a 2023 Honda Civic Sport southbound on Columbus Blvd struck the front driver’s side of a 2019 Ford shuttle bus traveling eastbound on Reed St.
After the collision, the shuttle bus spun before overturning and coming to rest across Columbus Blvd and nearby Conrail railroad tracks. Hospital representatives confirmed that employees from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania were riding the bus, and investigators identified the passengers as nurses.
Seven people were taken to the hospital after the crash. Four were taken to Jefferson Hospital, two were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and one was taken to Methodist Hospital. A 35-year-old woman was first listed in critical condition before later being upgraded to stable. The driver of the Honda was identified only as a 33-year-old man, and no additional information about him was released.
The cause of the wreck remains under review as investigators continue gathering evidence.
