Sharon, WI (July 5, 2026) – Five people were injured, several of them seriously, after an 80-foot silo collapsed during severe storms Friday evening in Sharon Township.
According to Sharon Fire & Rescue, the incident occurred on July 3, when two people traveling in a car and three motorcyclists pulled off Highway 14 to seek shelter from severe weather behind a barn. While they were taking cover, an 80-foot silo collapsed, striking the group.
All five victims were transported to area hospitals for treatment. Officials said several of the injuries were serious. Due to the scale of the incident, an MABAS Life Safety Box Alarm was activated, bringing additional ambulances and fire personnel to assist with the emergency response.
The severe storms also caused extensive damage throughout Sharon Township. Fire officials estimated that more than 40 homes were affected by the storms, and several roadways, including Highway C, Highway K, and Salt Box Road, remained closed into Saturday because of storm damage.
Authorities urged motorists to use caution in the area, warning of downed power lines, fallen tree limbs, and other storm-related hazards. The incident remains under investigation.
