Why Are Truck Stop Parking Areas Risky for Pedestrians?
Areas like truck stops often involve large vehicles moving in tight spaces. Semi-trucks have wide turning paths and large blind spots, which can make it harder for drivers to see people walking nearby.
Parking lots near fuel pumps can become especially busy, with trucks entering and leaving frequently. This constant movement can increase the chance of a person being struck, particularly during nighttime hours.
Slower speeds and careful attention are key in these environments. Both drivers and pedestrians must remain aware of their surroundings, as visibility and space are often limited in truck stop areas.
