San Diego, CA (May 29, 2026) – Six people were hurt Thursday morning when two vehicles collided on Chateau Drive in the Clairemont neighborhood, sending one of the cars into a nearby home. The collision was reported just after 11:00 AM in the 4600 block of Chateau Drive, near Genesee Avenue.
A red Tesla sedan and a gray Mercedes-Benz were involved in the accident. The force of the crash caused the Tesla to veer off the road and into a residential structure. The car had five occupants, four adults and a child, while another adult was in the Mercedes.
All six people were taken to the hospital: two had injuries described as major; the other four had minor injuries. It was not confirmed whether anyone inside the home was wounded.
No names were released in the initial report. This review of the wreck remains active as more details are gathered.
We hope for a swift and full recovery for everyone hurt.
What Happens When a Vehicle Crashes Into a Home in California?
When a car strikes a residential structure, the response typically involves more than just traffic units. Emergency personnel assess both the people in the vehicles and anyone who may have been inside the building at the time. Structural damage to the home is also evaluated to determine whether it is safe to occupy. In California, when a crash results in major injuries, the full sequence of events, vehicle speed, road conditions, driver actions, becomes part of a broader review. Injury severity can vary widely in multi-occupant vehicles, depending on seating position and the point of impact. Early medical records and on-scene documentation often help build a clearer picture of what each person in the vehicle experienced.
