What Investigators Review in Intersection Crashes Involving Multiple Injuries
When several people are hurt in an intersection crash, investigators often examine how each vehicle entered the crossing area. Signal timing, stop positions, and right-of-way rules are commonly reviewed to determine how the vehicles came together.
Roadway layout and visibility can also play a role, especially at wide intersections with multiple lanes of travel. Investigators may assess skid marks, vehicle rest positions, and debris patterns to better understand how the collision unfolded.
Witness statements and scene documentation can also help establish movement patterns before the impact. These combined details assist in reconstructing how the vehicles reached the point of contact.
