Las Vegas, NV (June 6, 2026) – A 28-year-old man died on Friday afternoon after being struck in a hit-and-run crash involving a pickup truck in the northwest Las Vegas Valley.

The crash was reported at approximately 2:37 p.m. on June 5 in the area of North Oso Blanca Road north of West Montecito Pointe Drive. A witness contacted authorities after locating the man along the roadway, prompting emergency personnel to respond.

Medical personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene. Investigators determined that evidence and witness statements point to a Ram pickup truck traveling south on Oso Blanca Road when it struck the man, who was riding a skateboard.

After the collision, the man was thrown onto the east shoulder of the roadway. The driver did not remain at the scene. A 2025 Ram 1500 was later located, but the driver had not been identified as of the latest update.

The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remains active as detectives continue working to identify the driver involved. We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the man who died.

How Hit-and-Run Pedestrian and Vulnerable Road User Crashes Are Investigated

Hit-and-run crashes involving pedestrians or vulnerable road users often require investigators to rely heavily on physical evidence and witness accounts, especially when the driver leaves before speaking with law enforcement. Vehicle fragments, paint transfer, and impact patterns can help identify the type of vehicle involved.

Investigators also review nearby surveillance footage and traffic camera data to track vehicle movements before and after the crash. In many cases, locating the vehicle is only the first step; determining who was driving at the time is often a separate part of the investigation.

These cases typically involve careful reconstruction of the crash timeline to establish speed, direction, and point of impact. The goal is to establish a clear sequence of events explaining how the collision occurred and who may be responsible.
