Southbury, CT (January 14, 2026) – A serious tractor-trailer rollover crash in a construction zone shut down westbound traffic on I-84 in Southbury early on January 13. The collision, which occurred between exits 15 and 14, left four people injured and required a significant emergency response.
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. and involved a tractor-trailer that rolled over across the highway, as well as a road construction vehicle. One of the injured individuals was reportedly trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by rescue crews. Three ambulances were dispatched to the scene to transport patients with varying injuries.
Initially, all westbound lanes of I-84 were closed as emergency teams worked to stabilize the scene and assist victims. A later update from officials confirmed that one lane had reopened to allow limited traffic flow while the investigation and cleanup continued.
The identities of the injured have not yet been released, and the extent of their injuries remains unconfirmed. Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the crash.
