Las Vegas, NV (May 23, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash near Boulder Highway and Desert Horizons Drive left one man dead and two people with life-threatening injuries on Friday morning. Police said the roadway collision happened around 11:33 a.m. just south of Russell Road.
Investigators said a 2025 Hyundai Elantra was heading north on Boulder Highway at a high rate of speed when it struck a 2024 Chrysler Pacifica attempting a left turn onto the southbound lanes. The force sent both vehicles toward the northwest side of the intersection.
The Chrysler driver, a 55-year-old Las Vegas man, died at the roadside. A passenger in the van, identified as 43-year-old Jennifer Boske, and the Hyundai driver, identified as 28-year-old Zachary Zwick, were taken to Sunrise Hospital with serious injuries.
Police said Zwick showed no signs of impairment. He was later booked in absentia on reckless driving-related charges while receiving medical care. The investigation into the deadly roadway incident is still active. We share our deepest sympathies with the family grieving this loss.
How Speed Can Affect Serious Highway Intersections
High speeds can make turning intersections far more dangerous, especially on busy highways with multiple lanes. Drivers traveling too fast may have less time to react when another vehicle enters the roadway. Even a small delay in braking can lead to severe damage and major injuries.
Side-impact hits are often linked to serious harm because vehicle doors provide less protection than the front or rear sections. Larger intersections may also create visibility challenges when traffic is moving quickly in several directions at once.
After major roadway cases, investigators often review skid marks, traffic signal timing, and vehicle data systems. Medical records and roadway measurements can also help explain how fast each vehicle was moving and how the sequence unfolded before contact occurred.
