Timelines vary widely. Identifying a driver who fled the scene can take anywhere from days to months, depending on evidence such as surveillance footage, vehicle registration records, or tips from the public.

What to Do After a Hit-and-Run Crash in Spring, TX
If you're involved in or witness a crash where a driver leaves the scene, call 911 right away and give dispatchers as much detail as possible about the vehicle and direction of travel. Stay with any injured person if it's safe to do so, and avoid moving them unless there's an immediate danger like fire. Try to note details that can help investigators later: a license plate, vehicle color and model, or any distinguishing features, even if you can only catch a partial view. Anyone injured should get checked out by a medical professional promptly, even if injuries seem minor at first, since some symptoms take hours to appear.
