Frequently Asked Questions
What should a pedestrian do after being hit by a car?
Seek medical attention right away, even if injuries seem minor, since some symptoms take time to appear. It's also important to get the names and badge numbers of responding officers and, if possible, contact information for any witnesses.
Who has the right of way at a crosswalk?
In Texas, pedestrians generally have the right of way in marked and unmarked crosswalks at intersections, but drivers and walkers both share responsibility for watching traffic and crossing signals before stepping into or through an intersection.
What injuries are most common in pedestrian accidents?
Pedestrians struck by vehicles often suffer broken bones, head injuries, and damage to the knees, hips, or spine, since there's little protecting the body on impact. Injury severity usually depends on the vehicle's speed and the point of contact.
What to Do After a Pedestrian Accident in Spring, TX
Anyone involved in or witnessing a pedestrian crash in Spring should stay at the scene until officers arrive and give a clear, factual account of what was seen. If you were the one struck, follow up with a doctor in the days after, even if you were cleared at the hospital, since swelling or nerve pain can show up later. Keep copies of medical records, the police report, and any photos from the scene. Give yourself time to heal, and lean on family or neighbors for help with daily tasks while you recover.
