ST. CHARLES, Kane County, Ill., Sept. 30, 2026 — One person was injured Monday evening, September 28, in a house fire on Beatrice Avenue in St. Charles, according to the St. Charles Fire Department.
The department said crews were called to a report of a structure fire in the 5:15 p.m. hour Monday. The first crew on scene reported seeing light smoke coming from outside the home.
According to the fire department, the homeowner tried to put the fire out with a fire extinguisher before crews arrived. Investigators believe the fire started in the basement.
