St. Louis, MO (January 11, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash early on Friday morning on southbound Interstate 270 just north of Missouri 340 left one man injured and prompted a multi-agency emergency response.
The collision occurred around 5:08 a.m., when a 2018 Chevrolet Sonic rear-ended a 2024 Jeep Compass in the southbound lanes. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the impact caused extensive front-end damage to the Chevrolet, which had to be towed from the scene by Terry’s Towing. The Jeep sustained moderate damage but was able to be driven away.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 64-year-old man from St. Louis, was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash and suffered moderate injuries. He was transported by the Creve Coeur Fire Department EMS to Mercy Hospital St. Louis for treatment. The 66-year-old woman driving the Jeep, a resident of Maryland Heights, was wearing a seatbelt and did not report any injuries.
Creve Coeur Police Department and St. Louis County Police assisted at the scene while Trooper T. O’Sullivan led the investigation. Officials confirmed that both vehicles were traveling southbound when the Chevrolet struck the rear of the Jeep under still-undisclosed circumstances.
