St. Tammany Parish, LA (June 9, 2026) – Louisiana State Police Troop L was called to the scene of a fatal accident on Sunday, June 7, involving a 48-year-old man who died after colliding with a passenger car on LA Highway 25 near East Daniels Road.

The report said the crash happened at about 1:20 p.m. Investigators said a Can-Am UTV was traveling north on the shoulder of LA Highway 25 when it pulled into the roadway for reasons still under review. At the same time, a 2004 Saturn Ion was traveling north on the highway and struck the UTV.

The driver of the UTV, identified as Timothy Blackwell of Folsom, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. He died at the scene. A passenger in the UTV and the driver of the Saturn were both wearing seatbelts and suffered moderate injuries. Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Officials said samples were collected from both drivers as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash. We are deeply saddened and extend our condolences to the family and friends.

What Information Is Usually Reviewed After a Crash Involving Off-Road Vehicles and Highway Traffic?

Crashes involving off-road vehicles entering highways are often reviewed by examining roadway positioning, visibility, and speed differences between vehicles. Investigators may assess how and why the off-road vehicle entered the travel lane and whether it was visible to approaching traffic.

Safety equipment use is also commonly reviewed, including seatbelt use and whether passengers were properly secured. These factors can influence injury severity, especially in rollovers or ejection incidents.

Vehicle damage patterns and final resting positions are typically analyzed to reconstruct the sequence of impact. In some cases, roadway shoulder conditions and merging points are also evaluated to understand how the crash occurred.
