Stone, MO (January 30, 2026) – A serious three-vehicle accident on US Highway 160 left one man injured on Thursday morning in Stone County, approximately two miles north of Reeds Spring.
According to authorities with the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D, the crash occurred at around 9:40 a.m. when a 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by a 75-year-old man from Nixa, failed to stop in time and rear-ended a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban. The Suburban had been waiting to turn into a private driveway along the westbound side of the highway. The force of the impact pushed the Suburban into the path of an eastbound 2026 RAM 2500, resulting in a secondary collision.
The 75-year-old driver of the Avalanche, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained moderate injuries. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and Mercy Life Flight airlifted the injured driver to Cox Hospital in Springfield for treatment. No other injuries were reported among the other drivers involved: a 44-year-old man from Reeds Spring and a 49-year-old man from Carthage.
All three vehicles were heavily damaged and towed from the scene by local recovery services. The crash remains under investigation by TPR J. Parrott of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
We hope for a full and speedy recovery for the injured driver and are grateful for the swift response of emergency teams on the scene.
