SULLIVAN COUNTY, Sullivan County, Tenn., Sept. 28, 2026 — Two people were injured on Sunday, September 27, when a falling tree struck a pickup truck and sent it off Highway 36 in Sullivan County, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The truck went over a guardrail and rolled down an embankment into a creek.
The pickup, reportedly a Ford Ranger, was traveling northbound on Highway 36 when an old tree fell onto it, landing in the truck's bed. Troopers said the impact launched the pickup into the air, over the guardrail, and down an embankment before it came to rest in a creek.
Two people in the truck were injured, the Tennessee Highway Patrol said. The extent of their injuries has not been released, and it's unclear whether they were taken to a hospital.
