Frequently Asked Questions
What injuries are most common in crashes involving a rollover?
Occupants usually suffer bruising, cuts and injuries from being thrown against the interior of the vehicle, ranging from minor to serious depending on speed and whether seat belts were worn.
What usually causes collisions between slow-moving farm equipment and cars on rural highways?
These crashes commonly happen when a following or oncoming vehicle misjudges the equipment's speed or has limited time to react, especially on two-lane roads with little separation.
How does speed affect the severity of a crash like this one?
Higher speeds give drivers less time to react and increase the force of impact, which can turn a minor collision into one causing a rollover or more serious injuries.
Why is distracted driving considered risky on rural highways?
Even a brief lapse in attention can prevent a driver from noticing slower-moving vehicles, like farm equipment, in time to slow down or change lanes safely.
