Why Nighttime Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accidents Can Be Severe
Nighttime hit-and-run accidents can be especially dangerous because visibility is lower and drivers may have less time to see a pedestrian. Street lighting, traffic speed, turning vehicles, and nearby intersections can all affect how quickly a driver reacts. When the vehicle leaves, it may also take longer to confirm what happened.
Pedestrians have little protection when they are hit by an SUV or another vehicle. Medical teams often check for head, spine, chest, hip, leg, and internal injuries after serious contact. In critical cases, doctors may need time to determine the full extent of harm. Investigators may review camera footage, witness reports, debris, road markings, and vehicle descriptions to help identify the driver and understand how the roadway emergency took place.
