Taney, MO (January 1, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash north of Branson resulted in injuries to a 47-year-old woman on the afternoon of December 31. The collision occurred around 4:00 p.m. on MO-248, approximately two miles north of the city, and involved a commercial van and a passenger SUV.
According to Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D, the crash happened when a 2022 Dodge ProMaster, traveling eastbound, failed to yield while making a left turn at an intersection. The van struck a 2016 Toyota 4Runner heading northbound on MO-248. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene.
The driver of the 4Runner, a woman from Galena, suffered injuries in the collision. Emergency crews responded quickly, and she was transported by ambulance to Cox Branson for medical treatment. The driver of the ProMaster, a 26-year-old man from Springfield, was not reported injured.
Authorities remained at the scene to document the incident and ensure road safety as traffic resumed in the area.
We send our best wishes to the injured driver and hope for her complete recovery.
Intersection Collisions in Missouri
Intersection-related crashes, like the one reported on MO-248 near Branson, are a recurring concern across Missouri’s highway system. These accidents frequently occur when drivers fail to yield while turning, often underestimating the speed or proximity of oncoming vehicles. In this case, a commercial van entered the intersection and collided with a northbound SUV, sending one driver to the hospital.
Although both vehicles sustained only minor physical damage, the incident still resulted in injuries—a reminder that the severity of injuries doesn’t always correlate with the visible damage to a vehicle. The injured driver in this case was properly restrained, which likely helped prevent more serious harm.
Drivers operating commercial or delivery vehicles are often navigating tight schedules and unfamiliar routes, which can lead to hurried decisions in intersections. However, under Missouri traffic laws, all drivers—commercial or personal—must yield appropriately and avoid unsafe turns that could put others at risk.
The rural stretch of MO-248 where this crash occurred is known for limited line-of-sight conditions and intermittent intersections, making vigilance and right-of-way awareness essential. Left-turn-related collisions are among the most commonly reported intersection crashes, and many could be avoided with better judgment and slower approach speeds.
Victims of these types of crashes often face immediate medical needs followed by insurance challenges, missed work, and uncertainty about legal rights. Fortunately, Missouri offers legal protections and access to recovery resources for individuals injured due to another driver’s failure to yield.
For residents of Taney County and beyond, knowing how to respond after an intersection crash—medically, legally, and financially—can make a major difference in recovery.
