The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under review. We are thinking of the teenager and wish them a full recovery.
Why Bicycle Crashes With Vehicles Often Cause Serious Injuries
Bicycle crashes involving motor vehicles can result in severe injuries because cyclists have limited physical protection. Even at lower speeds, the difference in mass between a bicycle and a vehicle can create a significant force during a collision.
Intersections are common locations for these types of crashes, especially when vehicles and cyclists cross paths at the same time. Visibility, driver awareness, and roadway design all play a role in safety outcomes. Injuries to the legs, head, and torso are frequently reported, and medical air transport may be required when rapid access to specialized trauma care is needed.
