Joliet, IL (June 24, 2026) – A 17-year-old Minooka boy died Monday night, June 22, after a dirt bike accident in Joliet. The wreck happened just before 8:40 p.m. at West Jefferson Street and North Hickory Street.
The teen was identified as Devin C. Davis. Police said Davis was riding east on Jefferson Street with two other dirt bike riders as they approached Hickory Street.
A Chevrolet Impala driven by 38-year-old Maxie Robinson of Joliet was traveling north on Hickory Street when the vehicles collided. Davis was thrown from the dirt bike and died at the scene.
Police said Robinson’s car also hit a parked vehicle on Hickory Street. Robinson was later taken into custody and charged with aggravated driving under the influence and aggravated battery.
The intersection was closed for several hours while investigators reviewed the collision. We extend our sincere condolences to Davis’ family and loved ones.
Why Dirt Bike Crashes on City Streets Can Be Severe
Dirt bikes are built differently from standard street motorcycles. Many are designed for off-road use, which can make them harder to see and less predictable in city traffic. Riders also have limited protection when they are near cars, parked vehicles, and intersections.
