What Safety Challenges Can E-Bike Riders Face at Intersections?
Intersections can be particularly challenging for e-bike riders because drivers and cyclists must accurately anticipate each other’s movements. When riders travel on shoulders, sidewalks, or against the normal flow of traffic, motorists may have difficulty spotting them or judging their approach.
E-bikes can also travel faster than traditional bicycles, potentially reducing the time drivers and riders have to react. Visibility, roadway design, and traffic controls can all influence safety at intersections and driveways.
Traffic safety experts often emphasize the importance of following the direction of travel, obeying traffic signals and signs, and remaining alert when approaching crossing points. Wearing a properly fitted helmet and using lights or reflective equipment can also improve visibility and reduce the risk of serious injury.
