THOUSAND OAKS, Ventura County, Calif., Oct. 29, 2026 — Two people were injured early on Thursday morning, October 29, in a crash on southbound State Route 23 at Sunset Hills Boulevard.

The crash was reported before 6 a.m. and involved a white Kia Sportage and a dark pickup truck, the California Highway Patrol said. Initial radio traffic indicated a vehicle had gone off the roadway with occupants still inside before the call was reclassified as a minor-injury collision. The truck sustained damage to its right side.

The collision left the pickup partially blocking a lane, and CHP units requested a tow truck to clear the wreckage. Lanes on southbound SR-23 remained affected for roughly an hour, with the onramp at South 1 closed before reopening around 6:26 a.m. Caltrans crews were asked to bring in a break in traffic near Olsen Road to assist with the cleanup.

The extent of the two reported injuries was not detailed, and both the cause of the crash and the vehicle that went off the roadway have not been confirmed. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate.

We hope those who were hurt recover fully and quickly.
