Millbrook, IL (August 2, 2026) – According to official reports, at least three people, including a 4-year-old girl, died following a serious head-on crash involving four vehicles on IL 71 near Walker Road in Millbrook on Friday night, July 31.
According to preliminary information, the accident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. when a driver attempting to pass multiple vehicles on IL 71 entered the path of another vehicle and caused a head-on impact. A total of four vehicles were involved in the crash, and five people suffered injuries. Three victims later died from their injuries, including a 4-year-old girl, Amy Lee Whitter, 38, of Des Moines, Iowa, and James Whitter, 65, authorities said.
The roadway remained closed for more than eight hours while crews cleared the wreckage and reviewed the scene. The road reopened shortly after 5 a.m. on Saturday. The crash remains under investigation. Our condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives.
