Houston, TX (July 23, 2026) – Three women were hurt after a vehicle left the HOV lane and landed on the main lanes of IH-69 Southwest Freeway on Wednesday, causing major traffic delays on Houston’s southwest side.
Preliminary information indicates the driver lost control while traveling in the HOV lane near Beltway 8. Investigators said the vehicle struck the HOV barrier, became airborne, and landed on the northbound main lanes of the freeway below.
All three women inside the vehicle were taken to a hospital. Officials said each is expected to survive. The crash prompted the closure of the northbound lanes of IH-69 Southwest Freeway near Beltway 8 while emergency units worked in the roadway.
