San Marcos, CA (July 22, 2026) – Three people suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle wreck on eastbound SR-78 near Rancho Santa Fe Road in San Marcos, according to dispatch logs. A 2021 Chrysler van and a black Honda were among the vehicles involved.
A tow was requested to help clear the roadway. The circumstances remain under investigation.
We hope everyone involved has a full recovery.
Why Do Minor Injuries Still Warrant a Full Investigation?
Even when injuries are described as minor, investigators typically document a collision with the same care as more serious ones. Determining fault, verifying insurance information, and identifying contributing factors all matter regardless of how severe the outcome turned out to be.
Minor injuries can also change over the following days, since symptoms like soreness or headaches sometimes worsen after the initial adrenaline fades. A thorough report gives everyone involved an accurate record to reference if medical needs or insurance questions come up later.
Multiple vehicles add another layer of complexity, since investigators must determine how each one contributed to the sequence of events. Even a seemingly straightforward three-vehicle case can take time to fully sort out, especially if initial witness accounts differ on how the vehicles came together.
