Tinton Falls, NJ (May 18, 2026) – A 27-year-old Long Branch woman died after a pickup truck crashed, overturned, and caught fire early on Sunday morning, May 17, on the Garden State Parkway in Tinton Falls. The crash occurred around 3:59 a.m. in the southbound express lanes, according to New Jersey State Police.
Authorities said a 23-year-old Long Branch man was driving a Toyota pickup truck southbound with passenger Katherine E. Andrade-Portillo when the vehicle left the roadway. Investigators reported the truck struck a metal storm drain cover, hit several trees, and overturned.
Following the rollover, the pickup truck became engulfed in flames. Andrade-Portillo was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not released information regarding injuries to the driver.
Traffic in the area was affected while emergency crews worked at the crash site. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by state police.
