What Investigators Review in Driveway and Pedestrian Accidents Involving Young Children
Crashes involving young children near driveways or residential areas are often carefully reviewed due to the limited visibility and sudden nature of such incidents. Investigators typically examine how the child entered the path of the vehicle and whether the driver had time to react.
Lighting conditions, vehicle speed, and sightlines around driveways are also important factors in understanding how the collision occurred. In many cases, residential layouts can create blind spots where pedestrians or children may be difficult to see.
When a hit-and-run is involved, investigators also focus on driver actions after the crash, including whether they remained at the scene or attempted to leave. These cases often involve detailed reconstruction using witness statements and physical evidence.
