Omaha, NE (August 30, 2026) –  A Saturday night collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle at JFK Boulevard and L Street in Omaha left the motorcyclist injured. EMS and Fire personnel were called to the scene after the rider was initially reported unresponsive on August 29.

The rider, a man in his 20s, was later walking around the scene and was found with a cut to his right arm. He had a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 15, and a bystander had applied a tourniquet to the injury. Bystanders reported that the rider was thrown about 100 feet and tumbled after the crash.

Emergency crews took him to a trauma center for further treatment. No other obvious injuries were reported at the scene. We hope the injured rider makes a full and steady recovery.

What Should Motorcycle Riders Know About Ejection Injuries?

A motorcycle rider can be thrown from the bike during a serious collision, creating a risk of injuries even when the rider appears alert afterward. Impacts with the roadway can affect multiple parts of the body.

Cuts and other bleeding injuries require prompt attention. A tourniquet may be used for severe bleeding from an arm or leg when direct pressure does not control the bleeding. A rider who is able to walk after a crash may still need a medical evaluation.

Some injuries may not be immediately visible, particularly after a forceful impact. Wearing protective clothing and a properly fitted helmet can reduce the severity of some motorcycle injuries, although no safety equipment can prevent every injury.
