Why Serious Intersection Crashes Require Detailed Investigation
Collisions at intersections can involve several contributing factors, including vehicle speed, traffic control devices, visibility, and the movements of each driver before impact. When severe injuries or fatalities occur, investigators usually conduct a detailed review to establish the sequence of events.
This process may include examining vehicle damage, roadway evidence, witness statements, and any available surveillance or dashboard camera footage. Measurements taken at the roadway and the final resting positions of the vehicles can also help explain how the collision unfolded. These findings provide a clearer picture of the circumstances and help improve roadway safety through a better understanding of how serious crashes occur.
