Frequently Asked Questions
Why is distracted driving a serious risk on the road?
Taking attention off driving, even briefly, slows reaction time and raises the odds of a crash, since a driver can miss a stopped vehicle, a signal change or a pedestrian.
How do road and weather conditions play into crashes like this one?
Wet or uneven pavement, poor lighting and limited visibility can all reduce a driver's ability to stop in time or stay in a lane, especially at intersections.
What should someone do right after a car accident?
Check for injuries, call 911, move to a safe spot if possible, and wait for police or medics to arrive and document the scene.
Where do most traffic accidents happen?
A large share of crashes occur at or near intersections, where turning, crossing and stopping traffic all meet.
