Berkeley Township, NJ (July 21, 2026) – A deadly boating accident claimed the lives of two children on Sunday night, July 19, in the Berkeley Township bay area. The crash was reported around 9 p.m. after a 30-foot boat collided with an Intercoastal Waterway channel marker.
Officials said the boat was carrying the children and their grandparents when the crash occurred. The impact ejected a 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy into the water. A 63-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman searched the water and found the children unresponsive. The children were taken to a local hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.
Officials said the channel marker lights were working at the time of the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
