What Happens When Multiple Vehicles Are Involved in a Crash?
A multi-vehicle accident can develop when one vehicle strikes another and causes a chain reaction involving additional vehicles. More vehicles involved can make it harder to determine the sequence of events and can increase the risk of injuries.
Factors commonly associated with multi-vehicle accidents include following too closely, sudden lane changes, distracted driving, poor visibility, and slippery pavement. Traffic volume can also affect how much time drivers have to react.
Medical evaluation after a vehicle accident can help identify injuries that may not be immediately obvious. Doctors may examine people for fractures, head injuries, neck or back problems, and other trauma before deciding what treatment is needed.
