Macon, GA (May 22, 2026) – Two drivers were hurt Thursday afternoon, May 21, after a sedan and an 18-wheeler were involved in an accident on Interstate 75 in Macon.
The collision happened just before 1:00 p.m. on southbound Interstate 75 at the Hardeman Avenue exit. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said the vehicles partially blocked the road after the wreck.
Both drivers were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The lanes were cleared soon after the crash, and no additional medical details were released.
The cause remains under review as investigators continue gathering information. We hope both drivers recover quickly after receiving care.
Why 18-Wheeler and Sedan Accidents Can Still Cause Injuries
Accidents involving 18-wheelers and sedans can cause harm even when early reports describe injuries as minor. Large trucks weigh much more than passenger vehicles, so even lower-speed contact can lead to pain, soreness, or soft tissue trauma. Drivers may feel neck, back, shoulder, or chest pain after a sudden jolt.
Highway exits can also create changing traffic patterns. Vehicles may slow, merge, or shift lanes near ramps, leaving less time for drivers to react. After this type of roadway emergency, medical teams may check for hidden injuries that are not clear at first. Vehicle damage, lane position, speed, traffic flow, and road markings can help explain how the vehicles came together and why both drivers needed hospital care.
