Keokuk, IA (July 1, 2026) – Two people were seriously injured on Monday, June 29, after a three-vehicle crash at Main Street and McKinley Avenue in Keokuk.

The collision happened in front of Hy-Vee, and Main Street was closed from McKinley Avenue to Belknap Boulevard after the wreck. Iowa State Patrol said a 2012 Jeep was stopped at McKinley Avenue and Main Street before attempting to turn westbound onto Main Street.

When the Jeep entered the intersection, it was struck by a 2012 Nissan Rogue. Both drivers were airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics with serious injuries.

A third vehicle traveling westbound tried to stop but struck the Nissan Rogue. The driver of that vehicle was not hurt. The Keokuk crash remains under review as investigators work to confirm the full sequence.

We hope the two injured drivers receive the care they need and recover fully.

Three-Vehicle Intersection Crashes Can Cause Serious Harm

Three-vehicle intersection crashes can become severe because one impact may quickly lead to another. A turning vehicle, a crossing vehicle, and nearby traffic may all come together within seconds.

When a second collision happens after the first, drivers may have little time to stop or move away safely. This can make the damage pattern more complex and leave multiple vehicles blocking the road.

Serious injuries may require urgent hospital care, especially when people are airlifted from the crash site. After a major intersection accident, reviews regularly focus on turning movement, right of way, traffic direction, speed, and where each vehicle was before contact.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
