Why Entrapment Can Make Multi-Vehicle Accidents More Serious
Entrapment can make a multi-vehicle roadway emergency more complex because crews must reach a patient without causing further harm. Damaged doors, crushed metal, broken glass, and shifted vehicle parts can block access. Rescue work may take time, especially when medical teams need to protect the person’s neck, back, or limbs during removal.
In three-vehicle accidents, investigators may review several points of contact. Vehicle positions, speed, lane movement, road design, and witness statements can help explain how the vehicles came together. Medical teams may check patients for head, chest, back, arm, and leg trauma after a hard impact. Even when injuries are not life-threatening, hospital care may be needed to rule out hidden harm and confirm the full extent of the damage.
