Understanding Vehicle Collisions in Express Lanes
Crashes in express lanes usually occur when a moving vehicle encounters a stopped or disabled car. These lanes typically carry higher speeds, giving drivers less time to react to sudden obstacles. Even minor collisions can lead to serious injuries due to the speed difference between vehicles.
Emergency personnel and roadway safety experts emphasize maintaining safe following distances and being alert for stalled cars. Roadway design, including lane width and barriers, can also influence how collisions unfold. Photos, vehicle positions, and traffic patterns are frequently used to analyze crashes. Awareness and defensive driving remain key factors in reducing harm during incidents in high-speed lanes.
