What Is Reviewed After a Crash Involving a Submerged Vehicle?
When a vehicle enters a body of water following a crash, investigators examine both the roadway and the surrounding environment to determine how it left the pavement. Early reports generally include the number of vehicles involved, injuries, and whether traffic was affected. Additional findings are usually released after the scene has been fully documented.
Investigators may review tire marks, vehicle damage, roadway conditions, and the final resting position of each vehicle. The recovery process can also provide useful information about how the vehicle entered the water and whether environmental factors contributed. These findings help create a more complete understanding of the circumstances surrounding the collision.
